Being A Girl-y Girl

Last Friday evening I took my youngest to see Prom.  I went thinking it would be a labor of love having had to endure Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers movies in the past. Turns out I actually enjoyed myself.

It wasn't so much the movie as it was the experience of sitting in a theater filled with girly girls, my 8 year old included (and the epitome, I might add). A sea of pedicured feet, fruity scented body lotion, flat ironed hair, gossip and giggles... I loved every second of it. What I found most intriguing was the simultaneous group reaction IN UNISON! (That blew me away). Like when the mis-understood bad boy, Jesse took his shirt off you heard all of the girls exclaim "yessss!". And when Lucas sat in the tree professing his love to Simone only to be rejected you heard a group "Awwww".

Being sort of a tomboy most of my life, I found myself enjoying being so ultra fem. I was also breathing a sigh of relief knowing that my toes were freshly painted (icky feet are gross). On the way home we listened to the pop station while talking about boys and clothes. My little Olivia was smiling the biggest smile and chatting away. We did a pinky swear that we wouldn't tell anyone about our discussion involving her secret crush and I let her know that she is my very favorite bff.

Totally looking forward to taking my princess to the next teenage chick flick. I think we'll make a day of it... You know, lunch, mani/ pedi's and a movie. (Sounds like bliss).
